The safest learning order
- Confirm that you installed the official version for your platform.
- Learn what the skill chain commands and when opposing actions create a Clash.
- Treat each Sinner as a fixed character who can borrow different Identities.
- Learn what E.G.O is before comparing individual E.G.O options.
- Read story and update pages only when you are comfortable with their spoiler scope.
This order separates durable concepts from live balance advice. It prevents a common beginner mistake: copying a ranking before understanding what the ranked units are meant to do.
First: read the battle screen
The Steam description says that connecting skill icons gives commands and that both sides act simultaneously during the combat phase. When characters target one another, they may Clash. The winning skill can shut down the losing skill, so target relationships matter before the action animation begins.

Second: separate Sinners from Identities
The roster contains twelve Sinners. ProjectMoon describes an Identity as a possibility borrowed from another reality for one of those existing Sinners. An Identity is therefore not a thirteenth permanent Sinner.
This distinction makes menus and community discussion easier to follow. When someone recommends an Identity, note which Sinner it belongs to and what mode or patch the advice assumes.
Third: treat E.G.O as its own system
ProjectMoon links E.G.O to Abnormalities and says it can take different forms and functions depending on the user. The official Steam description says teams combine Identities with equipped E.G.O to create synergies.
Do not assume the letters have a confirmed expansion just because a third-party page supplies one. This site uses the official term without expanding it.
Avoid stale shortcuts
Tier lists, event calendars, exact upgrade costs and specific team examples can become outdated. Before relying on them, check for a visible patch scope, mode, test criteria and update history. Pages without that information are opinion, not a durable answer.
